Bert (Bertha) Eileen Klepper Mach passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 5, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Opal Klepper, brother John Klepper, and sister Mary Ann Klepper DeVries. She is survived by her brother Harry (Gayle) Klepper, her five daughters; Lisa (John) Wetzel, Lynn Carrabino, Joan Mach, Susan Mach, and Judy Hohlt; her grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) Wetzel, Nathan Wetzel, Samuel Wetzel, Christopher Wetzel, Christian Hartupee, Kenny Hohlt, and Kristina Hohlt; and one great-grandchild, Harriet Johnson Wetzel, along with her nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Bert will be remembered for her easy smile, generous nature, beautiful sense of style, and love of family. Her grandchildren will always remember that at Nana’s you could have root beer floats for lunch. Bert took great pride and joy in each of her grandchildren. Bert excelled at playing mahjong, rummikub, and card games, and had the skill to teach others how to play. She enjoyed shopping for a deal, working on quilts and sewing projects, going to the theater, but most of all she treasured spending time with family and friends over a meal. Bert was blessed with friends from high school, her many years in St. Louis, and her dream home in Ft. Myers, Florida. Bert will be greatly missed by friends and family!
Memorial service and interment will be at Crabtree Cemetery on May 21st, at 12:30 p.m., in Litchfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bert’s name to Partners in Care or the American Cancer Society to help support those fighting cancer.
The memorial procession will line up at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield at 12:00 noon.
