Bert E. Land

Bert Elroy Land, 88, of Litchfield, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:09 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL   Born on March 14, 1932 in Raymond, IL., a son of Ebert and Margaret V. (Masters) Land.  He was a graduate of Raymond High School Class of 1950. Mr. Land was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.   He married the former Thelma Arlene Johnson on June 24, 1956 at Hamilton, IL.  Mrs. Land passed away July 12, 2000.  He then married the former Marilyn J. (nee; Smith) Smith on July 28, 2001. She passed away January 9, 2013.

Mr. Land was the Elevator Manager for O.K. Grain Co. in Barnett, IL for several years.  Mr. Land farmed for several years near Barnett until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Raymond.  Mr. Land enjoyed going to antique tractor shows, homecoming celebrations and bluegrass festivals.

Surviving Mr. Land are three daughters;

Julie (Rick) Wilson of Flintstone, GA.,

Deborah (Edward) Ragland of Huntsville, AL. 

 Marcea (Carl) Boward of Middletown, IL

A brother; Byron G. Land of Litchfield

9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friend; Norma Lawrence of Litchfield.

 Mr. Land is preceded in death by his parents, wives Thelma and Marilyn, an infant son Craig Michael Land, and a brother Roger Land.

Funeral services for Mr. Land will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Rev. Jim Wagahoff, pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist Church will officiate, and burial will be in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.  Military Honors at graveside. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial to the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, P.O. Box 603 Raymond, IL 62560
