Bernice Baker Obituary

Bernice Lucille Baker, 101, of Mt. Zion, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Monday January 17, 2022 at 5:14 p.m. at Heritage Health in Mt. Zion. She was born on November 19, 1920, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Ernest and Lillie (Steward) Fraser. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1939 and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield. Bernice was employed by the H.F. Henrichs Publication (The House of Sunshine) for several years and then served as church secretary at the First Baptist Church of Litchfield until her retirement. She married John W. Baker on April 1, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1989. Bernice is survived by:

3 sisters, Margie Parnell of Litchfield; Mary Ann Knabel of Decatur; and Marilyn McLauchlan of Mascoutah.

Several nieces and nephews. 

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; a brother, Robert Fraser; a nephew, Ernie Fraser; and a niece, Jody McLauchlan.

Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be designated to Hearts United, 110 N. Jackson St., Litchfield, IL 62056.
