Alberta Louise Smith, 96, of Morrisonville, formerly of Virginia, IL, passed away at her residence on Friday, July 11, 2025. Mrs. Smith was born in Farmersville, IL, on March 19, 1929, a daughter of John Albert and Emma Marie (Holtkoetter) Jaeger. She graduated from Morrisonville High School. She married Paul Wayne Smith on April 17, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. He preceded her in death October 24, 2010. Mrs. Smith, along with her husband, owned and operated a Western Auto Store in Virginia for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling in her motorhome with Paul and friends, and after Paul passed away she enjoyed going on adventures with her daughters. She enjoyed quilting, painting, and any games but mostly rummy. An excellent cook, Mrs. Smith was well-known for her fried chicken and apple pie.

Daughters, Linda (Dwight) Finch of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL, and Paula Smith of Morrisonville, IL
Brother, Lester Jaeger of Litchfield
Grandchildren, Bryan Finch and Aaron (Teresa) Finch
Great-grandchildren, Harper and Bailey Finch, Raquel and Bodhi Finch.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by siblings Harold Jaeger, John Jaeger, Marie Grosenheider, Hilda Marburger, and Gertrude Nantkes-Brockmeyer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel. Burial will follow in Morrisonville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
