Agnes Bertha Holderread, 93, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday evening at 7:02 p.m. at Heritage Health and Senior Care in Litchfield.
Mrs. Holderread was born February 10, 1927, in Cahokia Township, south of Litchfield a daughter of John Hans and Bertha Alvena (Prange) DeVries. She graduated from Mt. Olive High School, Class of 1944. She attended Illinois Business College in Springfield. She married Robert Holderread on November 2, 1950 in Washington, MO. Mr. Holderread passed away February 26, 1989.
Over the years, Mrs. Holderread was employed at Allis-Chalmers in Springfield, Litchfield Creamery Company, Pfolsgrolf Jewelers and worked in the cafeteria at Litchfield Junior and Senior High School.
Mrs. Holderread was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield and served on the Altar Guild. She enjoyed floral gardening, playing pinochle, walking, traveling and riding her bike.
Mrs. Holderread is survived by: Son Alan (Jill) Holderread of Hillsboro, a daughter, Sandra (Eric) Pigg of Litchfield, Daughter-in-law Marla Holderread of Litchfield.
A brother, Wayne (Dixie) DeVries of Benld, IL
Three sisters: Lora Roscetti of Springfield, IL, Jeanette (Frank) Hoehn of Oceanside, CA., and Iris (Walter) Friesner of Mt. Olive, IL.
Six grandchildren: Justin (Megan) Holderread, Neil (Brooke) Holderread, Blake Holderread, Jordan (Greg) Nelson, Bradley (Adrienne) Pigg and Levi (Fiancé; Terra Hamby) Pigg.
Six great grandchildren: Lainey, Kaitlyn and Grady Holderread, Mila and Olivia Nelson and Greyson Hopley.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Mrs. Holderread is preceded in death by her parents, a son Mark Holderread, sisters Ellen Hoefker and Wilma Sander, and a granddaughter Megan Holderread.
Funeral services for Mrs. Holderread will held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. The Rev. Cynthia Munker, pastor of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield will officiate and burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church or to the Litchfield Food Pantry. It is asked that you please wear a face mask while in attendance.
