72-year-old, Samuel Rosarieo Fontana, Jr., of Hornsby, passed away Friday afternoon, October 26, at 12:28 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Born July 10, 1946 in Sacramento, CA. A son of Samuel Rosarieo and Eva Pauline (Willis) Fontana. Mr. Fontana was a civil service employee of the U.S. Government and was a carpenter at military bases. He then was a driver for United Couriers until he retired. Mr. Fontana enjoyed fishing, woodworking and doing building projects. Mr. Fontana was a follower of the Catholic faith.
He married the former Sandra Jean Chismarick on August 15, 1989 in Reno, NV and she survives. Additional survivors include:
A son; Brian Fontana of Alabaster, AL
2 step daughters; Valarie (Marshal) Bliss of Roseville, CA
Violet Castro of Sacramento, CA
A brother; Gary (Claudia) Fassett of Sacramento, CA
7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
Preceding Mr. Fontana in death are his parents; A daughter, Lanell Fontana; A sister, Joyce Fontana; A step son, Vincent B. Burritt; 2 step grandsons, Robert Castro and Manual Castro; who was killed in action in Afghanistan.
There are no services planned for Mr. Fontana per his request. The Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the Litchfield Food Pantry.
