Ronald Gene Fry, 65 of rural Hillsboro, IL passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 3:42 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on September 29, 1953 in Malden, MO. A son of O.C. and Louise (Hodges) Fry. He was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1972. He married the former Nancy Kay Heck on June 10, 1972 in Malden, MO. Mr. Fry was employed at Echlin Mfg. – Brake Parts Co., Affinia Corp. in Litchfield for over 30 years as a manufacturing line and equipment maintenance man. He retired from there.
Mr. Fry was a member of the Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377. He enjoyed working on old cars, watching car races, doing wood working projects, riding his motorcycle, and gardening. He and his wife, Nancy, operated a greenhouse called Fry’s Country Flowers. They have served as foster parents to many children over the years.
In addition to his wife Nancy, Mr. Fry is survived by; 3 daughters; Sandra (JR) Petty of Mt. Olive, IL., Tina Hortenstine of Cumberland Furnace, TN., and Marsha (Kenneth) Ball of Ft. Stewart, GA.
4 adopted children: William, Antone, Cheyanne, and Chloe.
1 sister; Mary Ann (Jerry) Davis.
8 grandchildren; Brittany and Jacob Petty, Ashley Boucher, Brooklyn and Nick Hortenstine, Mikayla and Katelynn Ball and Kristen Allen. 1 great granddaughter; Alidia Petty.
Mr. Fry is preceded in death by his parents, adopted son Darren Scott Fry, brother Robert Fry and son-in-law Luke Hortenstine.
Funeral services for Mr. Fry will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield, IL., Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Ed Fogle will officiate, and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
