Orren Wayne Pierce, 97, of Litchfield passed away on Sun., June 17, 2018 at 2:15 p.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care of Litchfield. He was born on July 14, 1920 in Gladmir, Saskatchewan, a son of Orren & Anna Mae (Tofflemire) Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a veteran of the US Army where he had served as a Military Police during WWII. Orren worked as a Machine Operator at Fiat Allis for 13 years before retiring in 1983. He previously worked as a Lift Truck Driver & Checker for 20 years at John-Mansville Corp. in Granite City. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and a board member in Musician AFM since 1957. Orren enjoyed camping and music. He married Florence Leatherby on Mar. 19, 1960, in Litchfield. She survives. He is also survived by:
1 step-daughter in-law, Elsie (Nicholas Lyle) Hayes of Bethalto
1 niece, Barbara Watson of Wynne, AR
1 nephew, Jerome Traver of Williamsburg, VA
Several nieces & nephews, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Orren is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Lewis Pierce; 5 sisters, Jean Murphy; Alice Traver; Ruth Croy; Bethel Wilcox & Bertha; 1 niece, Verla West.
Funeral services will be held Wed., Jun. 20, 2018 at 11 am at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. James Tinzmann will officiate. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery in Gillespie. Visitation will be held from 10 am until time of service. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
