Mark Allen Sypherd, 50, of rural Litchfield, passed away Tues., July 31, 2018 in his home. He was born on May 29, 1968 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Delbert Lee & Karen Marie (Schreurs) Sypherd. He graduated from Keota High School in Keota, IA and attended 2 years of college. Over the years he did a lot of traveling and lived in various states including, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Oklahoma. He settled in Litchfield in July 2003. Mark was very active in his community. He was an Assistant Boy Scout leader for Troup 89, coached JFL football & boys and girls soccer. He also coached Litchfield Little League baseball & participated in Litchfield Sports Boosters, where he served on both boards. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Litchfield, National Auctioneers Association & Illinois State Auctioneers Association. He also enjoyed showing his antique tractors at various shows and events. He was employed by Aumann Auction Service as an auctioneer for 14 years of his 20 year auctioneering career. He volunteered both his time and auctioneering talents with various organizations in the area. Mark was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He raised horses, cattle and Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs. He also did horse shoeing, horse driving and went on horse riding trips. Mark married Rose Amelia Kotalik on May 1, 2004 in SS Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. She survives. He is also survived by:

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond & Madeline Sypherd; maternal grandparents, Robert & Mary Schreurs; father-in-law, Adolph Kotalik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sat., Aug. 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield. Very Rev. James L. Neuman, V.F. will preside with Deacon Sean Caveny assisting. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with a prayer service immediately following the visitation. Memorials may be directed to Rose Sypherd to be later distributed to various groups.
