Margaret Ray

Margaret Ray, 93, of Litchfield, died Fri., Apr. 6, 2007 at 2:10 p.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was born on Mar. 11, 1914 in Portage, PA, a daughter of Andrew and Susana (Babich) Supina. After graduating from high school, she attended Nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Altoona, PA. She worked as a private duty nurse and for the Red Cross. She was a Veteran of WWII serving as a combat nurse in the U.S. Army. She served for 4 years and held the rank of 1st Lieutenant. She was in the campaigns of Naples-Foggia and the Rhineland, and in North Africa. She was discharged on Jan. 25, 1946. She married Kermit Lemoine Ray on Dec. 6, 1945 in Greenville, IL. Most folks would remember Mr. Ray from working at the Litchfield Post Office for several years. He died Apr. 11, 2003.
Mrs. Ray was a member of the Russian Orthodox faith, and a member of V.F.W. Post 3912 in Litchfield. She enjoyed traveling, listening to piano music and enjoyed the art of making Pysanky style Easter eggs.
She is survived by:

1 sister, Celeana Kolenda of Miami Springs, FL
She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Supina and a sister, Anna Gray.

A graveside memorial service with full Military Honors will be held Thurs., Apr., 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
