Layton Matthew Pezold, 19, of Walshville, passed away on Fri., Oct. 12, 2018 at 3:29 a.m. in Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on March 23, 1999 in Litchfield, IL, a son of Doug & Jenny (Wendel) Pezold. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 2017. Layton was a student at Heartland Comm. College in Bloomington-Normal. He was employed as a delivery man & assembly man at Martin’s Home Furniture, Co. in Bloomington. Layton was baptized in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Panama. He was a member of Blessed St. John Paul II Catholic Church, in Mt. Olive. Layton played football and basketball for LHS, and was a member of FFA. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by:

Layton is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John & Betty (Henry) Wendel.
Layton had the kindest soul, the most beautiful blue eyes, and the most contagious smile. He was the Green Bay Packers’ biggest fan, and he loved hanging out with family and friends, playing video games, and listening to music. His favorite music was The Band, CCR, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He has left the biggest impression on us all. Forever and Always Pezold Strong!
Mass of Christian burial will be said Wed., Oct. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield. Fr. Tom Hagstrom & Fr. Larry Anschutz both of Blessed St. John Paul II Catholic Church, in Mt. Olive will preside. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Litchfield Comm. High School Simmons Gym. The family suggests memorials to Pezold Strong.
