Jesse Glenn Ray

Jesse Glenn Ray, 88, of Litchfield, passed away on Fri., Dec. 1, 2017 at 2:26 a.m. in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on March 21, 1929 in Raymond, IL, a son of Jesse L. and Minnie B. (Webster) Ray.  He graduated from Carlinville High School in 1947.  Mr. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.  On December 27, 1953, he married Donna May Pass in Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield.  She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2015.  He was a farmer in Waggoner for more than 50 years and retired in 2001.  He had his pilot’s license for 30 years.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in rural Raymond and had served as both an Elder and board member for 47 years. Other memberships include Raymond American Legion Post # 299 & 40 & 8. He is survived by:

                                    Brent L.(Marie) Ray of St. Peters, MO

6 grandchildren,   Austin (Erin) Ray; Christopher Ray; Amanda (J.P.) Roberts;  Courtney McDonald; Garrett Ray; Connor Ray

4 great-grandchildren, Paige and Brady Roberts; Calvin Ray; Case Roberts

Brother-in-law,     John E. (Nancy) Pass of Litchfield

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 1 son, Brett Ray; 4 brothers, Chalmer Ray, Earnest Ray, Harley Ray and George Ray; 3 sisters, Marie Arter, Avanelle Williams and Maude Thornton.

Memorial services will be held Sun., Dec. 3, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Christian Church in rural Raymond.  Rev. David Ziegenbein will officiate.  A dinner and reception will follow immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall.  Private family inurnment will be Mon., Dec. 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Elm Lawn Cemetery.  The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Association or Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
