James Byrle Greenwood, 80, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, May 25, at 3:30 a.m. at Heritage Health and Senior Care in Litchfield.
He was born on August 1, 1938 in Greenview, IL, a son of Geo and Regina Sara (Wilson) Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sullivan DD537.
Mr. Greenwood was employed for 25 years at A.O. Smith Corporation, automobile chassis division. He then was employed at Pillsbury Flour Mills in Springfield and retired from Brinks Armored Security Car Co.
He enjoyed boating and camping at Lake Lou Yaeger and cooking for large groups.
He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 3912 of Litchfield and served on the Color Guard Team for several years.
Mr. Greenwood married the former Geraldine Mae Rundle in 1957 and they later divorced. He then married the former Norma June (Weber) Black on August 20, 1979 in New Orleans, LA. and she survives.

9 grandchildren; Steven Greenwood (Mercedes), step grandson Riley Hinds, step granddaughter Sharon Porkorney (Kevin), Jennifer Young (Brad), Terri Durston (Shane), Amanda Durston, Melissa Crabtree, Sarah Gelsinger (Ron), Michael Wallace (Lauren)
16 great grandchildren; Addie Mae, Zoey Isabella, Mabry Joy Greenwood, Eli, Elizabeth, Logan Porkorney, Joseph, Noah, Zack Young, Caitlyn Durston (Shawn), Lucas Weller, Sydney Crabtree, Charleigh Dossett, Carlee Gelsinger, Olivia Rose, Owen Michael Wallace.
2 great great Grandkids; Paisley Grace and Brilyn Rose Titsworth
Mr. Greenwood is preceded in death by; his parents, step father Dave Hart, a daughter Kelly Durston and her husband Danny Durston, and 4 great grand baby Angels.
Funeral Mass for 80-year-old James B. Greenwood will be said Wednesday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield. The Rev. Daniel Willenborg will officiate. Burial will be in the Crabtree Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Holy Family. Military Honors at graveside. The family suggests memorials to Lincoln Land Honor Flight or Holy Family Catholic Church.
