Gary L. Wise

Gary Lee Wise, 73, of Litchfield, passed away on Sat., Nov. 2, 2019 at 12:32 a.m. in HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.  He was born on Dec. 3, 1945, in Medora, IL, a son of Freab Matthew & Martha Pearl (Greenstreet) Wise.  He was a graduate of Carlinville High School with the Class of 1963.  He married the former Nancy Carol Green on June 6, 1965 in Carlinville, IL.  She survives.  Gary was a meat cutter with the Meat Cutters Local 534 with National Foods, Tom Boy, & Kroger.  He also was a partner with his dad at Wise Lumber Mill, & owned Litchfield Rug and Furniture Cleaners with his wife Nancy from 1986-2012.  Gary was Ward 1 Alderman for 12 years from 1981-1989 & 2007-2011.  He was a member of Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634 and Coached Little League Baseball and Girls Softball.  He enjoyed Football.  In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by:

                  Christopher (Dana) Wise both of Springfield

1 sister,      Wanda (David) Link of Gillespie

1 granddaughter,         McKenna Dawn Wise

He was preceded in death by his parents; Infant daughter, Kelly Dawn Wise; 2 brothers, William “Buck” Wise; Robert Wise; & 2 sisters, Donna Brooks; Helen Foster.

Funeral services will be held on Fri., Nov. 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Rev. Gary Schwab of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield will officiate.  Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.  Visitation will be held Thurs., Nov. 7, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials to the Litchfield Food Pantry.
