Eugene Franklin Black, 97, of Litchfield, passed away on Sat., May 18, 2019 at 5:39 a.m. in HSHS St. Francis Hospital. He was born on April 27, 1922, in Anutt, MO, a son of Oliver Nichols & Lydia Jane (Stockstill) Black. Mr. Black was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force & served during WWII. He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co., in Litchfield from 1949-1975. He was Head of Maintenance at North Scott School District in Eldridge, IA where he retired in 1984. Mr. Black was a life-long member of Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634. He also took part in the 2011 Honor Flight. He enjoyed gardening, being outside, & repairing Lawn-Boy mowers. Mr. Black is survived by:

Several nieces & nephews
Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; William, Clarence “Aubrey”, Clyde, James “Wilson”, & George “Alvin” Black; 1 sister, Thelma Pence.
Private family graveside services will be held on Sat., May 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater. A memorial visitation will be held Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The family suggests memorials to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
