Donna J. (Jett) Abel

Donna June Abel, 75, of Litchfield, passed away Wed., April 11, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield.  She was born on May 19, 1942 in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Thomas Melvin & Margery Maglena (Friesland) Jett, Sr.  Donna was a graduate of Litchfield High School Class of 1960.  She married John E. Abel on Nov. 21, 1961.  They later divorced in 1981.  She was employed by Litchfield HealthCare Center as the Human Resource Rep. for 34 years and retired in 2010.  She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield, Epslon Psi Sorority, VFW Post #3912 Ladies Auxiliary. Donna volunteered her time with PAWS Care of Montgomery County for which she provided foster care.  Her hobbies included bowling, floral gardening, cross-stitching crafts & reading.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.   She is survived by:

   2 daughters, Jamie (Rick) Evans of Litchfield

                        Dawn (Andy) Rosentreter of Hillsboro

   2 grandchildren, Zachary (Kayla) Evans

                             Valerie Elliott

She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend, Dale Jarman; brother, Thomas M. Jett, Jr.; son-in-law, Mike Wathen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Rev. Jerry Quarles will officiate.  Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  The family encourages those attending to wear something red in color.

The family suggests memorials to Montgomery County Cancer Association or PAWS Care of Montgomery County.
