Darlene Mae Painter, 83, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at 2:14 a.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield. She was born Jan. 31, 1935 in Carlinville, IL, a daughter of Walter Wolfolk & Una (Jackson) Boatman. She graduated from Carlinville High School. Darlene married John Howard Painter on Aug. 27, 1955 in Carlinville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2014. She worked for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Dept. as the Office Deputy. During her tenure there, she served under the direction of 3 county sheriffs and retired in 1997 with 22 years and 2 months service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Women of the Moose Chapter 581, both in Litchfield. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan and enjoyed playing cards. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family. She is survived by:

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 1 daughter, Carla Sue Painter; 3 brothers, Kenneth Boatman, Delvan Boatman and Galen Boatman.
Funeral services will be held Sat., Sept. 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service in the church. The family suggests memorials to First Presbyterian Church or the Moose Lodge #1634 in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
