Barbara J. Traylor

Barbara Jean (Hart) Traylor, of Litchfield, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sat., May 4, 2019 at 6:25 a.m.  Born on July 14, 1930 to Arthur Persey Hart and Adeline Elaine (Harbert) Hart, she was 88 years of age.  She attended Litchfield schools and graduated from LHS in 1948 and married Dale L. Traylor on June 20, 1948. He survives.

Barbara worked as administrative assistant in the City of Litchfield, Mayors Office for 8 years, Secretary at Barry Nursing Home in Litchfield and was also Florist for Eilers Nursery in Litchfield and Deanna’s Flowers in Hillsboro.

She was active with Home Extension, Sub Club, The Tennets, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Girls Scouts & Cub Scouts. Barbara enjoyed music, playing cards, knitting & crocheting, cooking, gardening, her many friends and entertaining.

In the mid 70’s, she and Dale purchased the Village Tavern in Keyesport, IL which became a well known stop for boaters, hunters and anyone with a taste for good food and fun.

Her grandchildren became a big part of her life and she enjoyed every minute spent with each of them.

      1 daughter,                 Pamela Sue (Gus), Skeadas of Springfield, IL

      1 son,                         Todd (Melissa), of Hazelwood, MO.

      1 brother,                    Robert Hart (Jeanne) of Greenwood, SC

      1 sister,                      Doris (Hart) Lair of Danville, KY

      4 grandchildren,         Jason (Shari Schaefer) Rives;

                                        Jamie (Brad) Boatright, ALL of Carlyle

                                        Jennifer (Michael) Weiss of Bella Vista, AR;

                                        Jillian (Tim) Ulrici of Nokomis

      2 great-grandsons,    Brandon & Jensen Dale Boatright of Carlyle

      Several nieces and nephews

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Billy and John (Jack) Hart.

Memorial services will be held Sat., May 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Family friend, Nancy Bandy, will be the Celebrant.  Visitation and wine social will be held Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.  The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
