Imogene R. Reeves

Imogene Ruth “Gene” Reeves, 89, of Litchfield, formerly of Springfield, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. at the Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care Center in Litchfield. She was born November 13, 1922 in Litchfield, a daughter of Edward Charles and Ruth Marie (Bly) Bailey. She was a graduate of Centralia Township High School in Centralia, IL with the Class of 1940. She married Samuel Kyle Reeves on December 31, 1944 at the Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. Mr. Reeves passed away February 9, 1998.
While Living in Springfield, Mrs. Reeves was employed and retired from the CPA firm of McGladrey – Aemson as a bookkeeper. After retirement, Mrs. Reeves and her husband returned to Litchfield. They were avid campers and spent the winters in Frostproof, FL.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield, The American Legion Auxiliary in Hollister, MO and the Trainmen’s Auxiliary in Centralia, IL. She and her late husband were active with the Fiat-Allis retirees group in Springfield.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by cousins, her husband’s family, and wonderful friends and neighbors who have helped and cared for her.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Reeves is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Edward Charles Bailey, III.

Funeral Information

Funeral services for Mrs. Reeves will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Mausoleum of Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield with burial to follow. The Rev. Rudy Elam, retired pastor of the Litchfield Southern Baptist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of the arrangements.
