Robert Ray “B.J.” Johnson, 60, of rural Litchfield, died Sun., Jan. 15, 2012 at 12:20 a.m. He was born on Dec. 1, 1951 in Litchfield on the family farm, the son of Raymond Heye & Erma Louise (Nobbe) Johnson. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1969. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Illinois National Guard & served for 6 years during the Vietnam Era. A lifetime farmer, he operated R & C Grain, LTD., with his wife, Chris. He was a member of Montgomery County Farm Bureau & had also sold Pioneer seed for several years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing & bowling & had bowled 4 sanctioned 300 games. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family & friends. He married Christy Lynn Hermsmeyer on Nov. 6, 1971 in Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She survives. He is also survived by:

1 daughter, Angela (Greg) Strong of Marion
His parents, Raymond & Erma Johnson of Litchfield
4 grandchildren, Blair Johnson of Litchfield

Father-in-law & Mother-in-law, Robert & Donna Hermsmeyer of Litchfield
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held Thurs., Jan. 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Rev. Jonathan Bontke will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 until 8 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.
