Karl Richard Kenney, 76, of Raymond, IL, passed peacefully after a period of failing health on Tues., Dec. 27, 2011 at 1:10 p.m. in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. The family finds comfort in knowing that he is now pain-free & entering into a New Life. He was born on Feb. 19, 1935 in Paris, IL, a son of Wilfred & Mary (Powers) Kenney. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. After leaving the service, he started work at IBM, then graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and began a life-long career in accounting. He eventually opened his own CPA practice in Watertown, SD. He moved to Illinois in 1984 and worked for State of Illinois until retirement. After retirement, he served as a tax assessor for Raymond Twp. His life is chronicled in a “tongue-in-cheek” autobiography, “It Really Is All About Me.” Karl was a communicant of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond. He appreciated all the support he received from the “Friends of Bill” and in turn provided support as a sponsor over the years. He is survived by: 2 daughters, Brenda Lawrence of Springfield, MO Funeral InformationA graveside funeral service will be held Sat., Dec. 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Paris, IL. Fr. David Zimmerman, of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paris, and nephew, Deacon David Zola, of Champaign, will co-officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. led by Fr. Ted Schelich, Chaplain of St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Donations Information
