James D. Curto

December 30, 1928 - January 26, 2012

James Dan’l Curto, 83, of Litchfield, died Thurs., Jan. 26, 2012 at 5:20 a.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield. He was born on Dec. 30, 1928 in Watervliet, MI, a son of Louis & Genevieve (Taylor) Curto. Mr. Curto was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634 where he was past Governor, American Legion Post #436, Secretary-Treasurer of Labor Local 84 for several years, A.T.A., & was Ward 1 City Alderman from May 1983 - April 1987. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting & fishing, pitching horseshoes & bowling. He married Jewell “Judy” Jelley on Nov. 24, 1954 in Litchfield. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2002.

He is survived by:
1 daughter, Brenda (Dennis) Lavallee of Lithia Springs, GA
2 sisters, Dorothy (Mel) Parsons;
Norma (Edwin “Red”) Walker, ALL of Litchfield
4 grandchildren, Tracie Wills of Lithia Springs, GA;
Eric (Jennifer) Trobeck of Dallas, GA
Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Lavallee of Laredo, TX
Sandra (Vance) Stemen of LaMoure, N.D.
9 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 brothers, Wayne & Carl Curto; 1 sister, Louise Adams.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Sun., Jan. 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Rudy Elam, of Mt. Olive, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home. Moose rites will be held at 7:00 p.m.
