James L. Easterly

James L. Easterly, 65, of Litchfield, died Sun., Oct. 30, 2011 at 11:55 p.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He was born on July 1, 1946 in Litchfield, the son of Ellsworth Lawrence & Mary Elizabeth (Schmuck) Easterly. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1964. He received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Bradley University in 1969. He also received a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Illinois in 1996. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois, Texas, and Missouri. He began working for the Illinois Department of Transportation after high school and continued until his retirement in May 2003, having served as resident engineer, statewide construction engineer (92-94), district engineer in both Springfield (94-98) and Collinsville (94-02), and Director of Highways (02-03). Later in 2003, he began work as Vice President of McDonough Associates, Inc., a private engineering consulting company based in Chicago. He remained in that position until the time of passing. He was an active member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield where he served as board chairman, property committee chairman, and trustee chairman. He enjoyed golf, yard work & travel. James married Gale (Corn) Easterly in October of 1965. She survives. He is also survived by:

Mother-in-law, Helen Corn of Litchfield
2 grandsons, Matthew & Jacob Rahn
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held Thurs., Nov. 3, 2011 at 1 p.m. in Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield. Rev. Jay Johnson, pastor, & Associate Pastor Tracy Siegman, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. in Union Avenue Christian Church.

The family suggests memorials to Union Avenue Christian Church Building Fund, Montgomery County Cancer Association or Department of Civil and Construction in the Bradley University School of Engineering and Technology.
