Vera C. Sumpter

Vera Christine Sumpter, 93, of rural Carlinville, died Fri., July 23, 2010 at 2:19 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was born on May 16, 1917, in Shaw’s Point Twp near Atwater, IL, a daughter of Sylvester Otto & Kate Rosetta (Konneker) Jackson. She married Norman William Sumpter on May 5, 1934 in Hillsboro, IL. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2000. She was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of Rural Methodist Church of Carlinville. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, helping on the farm & milking. She is survived by:

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David L. Sumpter; a brother, Shirley Jackson; 2 sisters, Mable Sumpter & Pearl Slightom.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Sun., July 25, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
