Dorothy Jean Tarter, 83, of Litchfield, died Wed., Jan. 11, 2012 at 10:32 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. She was born on Apr. 7, 1928 in Zanesville Township, IL, near Raymond, a daughter of Henry J. & Dollie Ann (Myers) Ogden. She graduated from Raymond High School. She married Florian “Floyd” Louis Tarter on Oct. 14, 1950 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2002. She was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Litchfield & St. Anne’s Society. She was an Election Judge for several years & an avid Cardinals baseball fan. In her spare time she enjoyed being with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren & her faithful companion Puppy, a lab mix dog. She also enjoyed gardening. She is survived by:

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers, Robert Ogden, Dean Ogden & Bernard Ogden; a grandson, Joshua Tarter;
2 great-grandchildren, Tyler & Aurora.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Sat., Jan. 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Fr. Ted Schelich, Chaplain of St. Francis Hospital, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
