Online Obituaries David Eugene Whiteside, 80, of Litchfield, died Tues., June 1, 2010 at 8:40 p.m. in his home. He was born on Dec 28, 1929 in Montgomery Co. near Sorento, IL, a son of John Wesley & Ruth Matilda (Varner) Whiteside. He was self-employed as a milk hauler for 42 years and he retired in 1993. He hauled milk from area farmers to the Edwardsville Creamery & later in his career he worked for Prairie Farms Dairy hauling milk from dairy to dairy. He was a member of Midwest Truckers Association. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking. He married Irma Marie Scharf on July 23, 1952 in Greenville. She survives. He is also survived by:
1 son, Ron (Gay) Whiteside of Sorento
2 step-grandchildren, Amy (Billy) Thorpe of Millstadt
Chrissy (Pat) Henning of Savage, MN
3 step-great grandchildren, Timber Thorpe; Austin & Sierra Henning
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Paul Whiteside.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held Fri., June 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. James Tinzmann, pastor of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
