Norman Dale Marit, 73, of Litchfield, formerly of Coffeen, died Tues., Dec. 27, 2011 at 2:17 p.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He was born on Sept. 8, 1938 in Walshville, IL, a son of Wesley L. & Ruby Faye (Logsdon) Marit. He graduated from Litchfield High School & was a veteran of the U.S. Army & served during peacetime. He was a Coal Miner for a total of 30 years at both Consolidated Coal in Coffeen & Freeman United Coal Co. in Farmersville & retired in 2000. He was a member of UMWA. He had also worked for Litchfield Creamery Co – Milnot & GM&O Railroad. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening & doing yardwork. He married Brenda Sue Shepherd on Aug. 27, 1966 in St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield. She survives. He is also survived by:

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Donald Marit in Vietnam on Sept. 8, 1964 & Kenneth Marit; an infant sister, Betty Marit.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Sat., Dec. 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab, of Litchfield, will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
