John Jett, Jr.

January 15, 1929 - August 25, 2010

John Jett Jr., 81, of Litchfield, died Wed., Aug. 25, 2010 at 4:50 a.m. in his home. He was born on Jan. 15, 1929 in Irving, IL, a son of John Martin & Cleo Marie (Taylor) Jett. During his earlier years, he was a gas line utility worker for Illinois Power Company for 30 years before retiring in 1987. Prior to that, he worked for Wabash Railroad for a few years. He was a member of Litchfield Sportsman’s Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing & hunting & was a gun enthusiast. He served on the Board of King Cemetery Assn. in rural Irving for several years. He married Mildred Irene Hankin on Dec. 6, 1947 in Hillsboro, IL. She survives. He is also survived by:

1 sister, Bernice Fenton of Caledonia, MO
13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Harold, Pearl, Gerald, Earl & Thomas Jett; 2 sisters, Etta Miller & Elsie Jett.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Sun., Aug. 29, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Cornerstone Ministries in Litchfield. Rev. Steve Benthal will officiate. Burial will be in King Cemetery in rural Irving. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the church. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
